Itinerary

DAY 1: SATURDAY: Arrival to the Faroe Islands

Arrive at Faroe Istands with Atlantic Airways. On arrival, after completing immigration, and collecting your luggage, make your way to the exit, where the shared taxi service booth is located.  On providing them with your name and voucher, they will guide you to your taxi.  Shared taxi transfer from the airport to your hotel in Tórshavn. 


Check-in at your accommodation in Tórshavn (this will be your home for 7 nights) 


 

 

DAY 2: SUNDAY: Vestmanna Cliffs 


Day trip to the Majestic Vestmanna Mountains and the historic Viking settlements of Kvívík. The day starts with an exciting boat trip to Vestmanna Sea cliffs, where you will explore the dramatic cliffs and some of the hidden caves. On the way back to Tórshavn, visit the Viking settlements in the beautiful town of Kvívík and take several photo stops along the way.

DAY 3: MONDAY: Highlights of Streymoy and Eysturoy
 


Drive to the idyllic village of Saksun, which lies picturesquely bound in a small fjord with high mountains on both sides. Continue to the village of Tjørnuvík, with an en route stop at the Fossá waterfall. From Tjørnuvík you can see the impressive rock formations called the Giant and the Witch. 

Before arriving at Gjógv you will drive past the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur (882 m). In Gjógv you will get to see the natural harbour, which the village is named after.

DAY 4: TUESDAY: Saga Island of Sandoy and Cultural Centre of Kirkjubøur


Day trip to the historic island of Sandoy, one of the most unspoiled islands where you can still experience the old, Faroese way of life. 

Drive from Tórshavn over the mountain to the ferry harbor of Gamlarætt, where you will drive through the new subsea tunnel. The guide will entertain you with sagas from the island. Experience a church visit, fantastic viewpoints and small villages. 


Before returning to Tórshavn, visit Kirkjubøur, which is the Faroe Islands’ historical and cultural center. See the unfinished Magnus Cathedral and the small medieval church of St. Olav.

DAY 5: WEDNESDAY: Day at leisure


The following optional excursions can be booked at an extra cost: 


The island of Vágar: First stop will be in the picturesque village of Bøur to enjoy the beatiful view of Tindhólmur and the freestanding rocks, Drangarnir. Continue to Gásadalur where you will walk to the most photographed waterfall in the Faroes, Múlafossur. En route you will pass the” Lake above the ocean”, also called the Hanging Lake.

Tórshavn tour: Walking exploration of the old city quarter in Tórshavn, Tinganes and Reyn with its small alleys and charming houses with grass roofs. Your local guide will tell stories about the past and present day lives of the Faroese.

DAY 6: THURSDAY: Day at leisure


The following excursion can be booked at an extra cost: 


Day trip to the island of Mykines including a hike: Enjoy a magnificent boat trip along the majestic cliffs. See the impressive gannets that only breed on Mykinesholm and the charming puffins with  colourful beaks. 


NOTE: Day trip to the island of Mykines is very popular and must be booked in advance 

 



DAY 7: FRIDAY: Highlights of the North 


Begin your adventure on the wonderful island of Borðoy, where you will explore Klaksvík, the heart of the fishing industry in the Faroe Islands. You will visit the remote village of Kunoy and drive north to the picturesque Viðareiði. On the way back to Tórshavn, drive through the fascinating underwater tunnel where Tróndur Patursson has decorated the roundabout with his artwork. It is unique and the only one of its kind in the world.

DAY 8: SATURDAY: Departure from the Faroe Islands 


You will be collected from your hotel and transferred by shared taxi from your hotel to the airport.
